Nablus court holds first session in lawsuit against UK for Balfour Declaration
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA court in Nablus holds its first session as it reviews a case against the British government for its “crimes” in Palestine during the British Mandate period (1917-1948), as well as for the 1917 Balfour declaration setting out London’s support for a national home for the Jewish people in the land.
The hearing sees witnesses driven from their homes in 1948 testify before the court. The UK has not sent representatives to the court.
The plaintiffs seek compensation from the British government for the “wrongs” its actions brought about.
