Nazareth resident gets 3.5 years for being part of IS
The Nazareth District Court sentence Mahran Khaldi, 20, to 3.5 years in prison for joining a terror organization.
Khaldi left Israel for Turkey, then to Syria. He trained and fought among the ranks of Islamic State and was wounded in a bombing.
In the ruling, judges wrote: “Despite the defendant’s actual belonging to Islamic State and his taking part in battles against other enemies of Israel, we believe that in current circumstances the case does not constitute a concrete and powerful harm [to the state].”
