Defense Minister Israel Katz reportedly met alone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a short while ago, after yesterday it was reported that the premier summoned both the defense minister and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir for a meeting to resolve their ongoing public spat.
According to Hebrew-language media reports, Katz and Netanyahu have wrapped up their meeting, and in the coming hour, Zamir will meet separately with the prime minister.
The reports say that a three-way meeting is unlikely to be held.
Katz and Zamir traded barbs yesterday after the former ordered a re-investigation of the military’s external review of its earlier internal probes into the failures surrounding the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack.
Zamir, meanwhile, accused Katz of political interference and harming the military’s preparedness by freezing senior promotions — which the defense minister must approve — for 30 days.
