Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant approved the operation to rescue four hostages from central Gaza’s Nuseirat on Thursday evening when a war cabinet and security cabinet meeting was canceled, a diplomatic source says.

The meetings were canceled in order for the two to make preparations for the operation.

Netanyahu was also said to have observed the mission from inside a Shin Bet security service war room.
