Police arrest man suspected of impersonating hospital staff to ‘commit lewd acts’

Police arrested a young man on suspicion of impersonating medical staff in order to commit lewd acts on patients at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem.
The suspect, a 23-year-old from southern Jerusalem, posed as a volunteer at the medical center, introducing himself to patients and “exploiting their vulnerable state to commit lewd acts,” police say.
He was nabbed after the father of a 16-year-old boy, allegedly harassed by the suspect, filed a complaint with law enforcement. Police officers worked with the hospital’s security division to identify and arrest the man.
Police believe the suspect harmed others and are urging patients who experienced harassment to come forward and report the incident.
The suspect is due for a remand hearing in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court this morning, where police will request to extend his detention.
