Russia fairly sure it killed IS leader in Syria airstrike
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleRussia’s Foreign Ministry says there is a “high degree of certainty” that it killed Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi outside the group’s de facto capital in Syria in late May, the RIA news agency reported.
Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed al-Baghdadi and other senior group commanders were killed in an airstrike, but said his death was still “being verified through various channels.”
