‘Theater diplomacy on loop’: Iran’s chief negotiator mocks Trump’s repeated U-turns

Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s chief negotiator in talks with the US, mocks US President Donald Trump for repeatedly threatening large attacks and then calling them off while citing a breakthrough in negotiations.
“‘Massive attack coming… wait, never mind, they want to negotiate.’ That’s theater diplomacy on loop,” Ghalibaf writes. “Using bullying + broken promises + fake news as leverage is a failed strategy. Acknowledge the facts and fulfill your commitments. We don’t need more theater.”
Most recently, earlier this month, Trump called off a major attack, citing progress in talks. In recent days, Iran and Oman have reportedly made progress on a deal to allow transit in the Strait of Hormuz.
