Trump ‘disavows’ alt-right, doesn’t want to ‘energize’ it
In a meeting with The New York Times, President-elect Trump responds to the recent emboldening of the racist and white nationalist groups described as “alt-right,” saying he disavows them and doesn’t want to “energize” them.

Trump has been facing criticism over his failure to explicitly condemn those groups — which were fanned by his campaign — especially in the wake of an alt-right event over the weekend during which activists performed the Nazi salute and cried “Heil Trump.”
