Ultra-Orthodox block entrance to Safed in latest anti-draft protest
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleUltra-Orthodox protesters are blocking the entrance to the northern city of Safed as part of ongoing anti-draft protests sparked by the Sunday arrest of two yeshiva students for failing to show up to the Israel Defense Forces draft offices.
Route 89 at the Elifelet Interchange is blocked to westbound traffic. Police are urging motorists to use alternate roads in the area.

Earlier today, 40 people were arrested in ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak for participating in a violent anti-draft demonstration.
Police said the protesters were arrested for attacking officers, “blocking roads and causing public disturbances” in the Tel Aviv suburb.
