White House not picky over whether Gaza deal includes returning PA to Strip — report

The Trump Administration will accept any long-term Gaza ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, whether or not it includes returning the Palestinian Authority to govern the coastal enclave, the Haaretz daily reports.

The report quotes a White House official who says Washington would prefer having the PA rule the Gaza Strip “so we can get on with making lives better.” However, the official clarifies that it is not a stipulation for whether the administration would welcome a deal.

The official tells Haaretz that the US fully supports Egyptian efforts to broker an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
