With Hezbollah weakened, US said pushing Lebanon to elect new president

The Axios news site reports that the Biden administration is seeking to exploit the massive blows Israel has struck to Hezbollah’s leadership and infrastructure in recent weeks to push for a new Lebanese president in the coming days.

Lebanon hasn’t had a president in two years, as recently slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had been blocking the appointment of anyone who wasn’t an ally of the terror group.

The lack of a president has increased instability in Lebanon, further exacerbating the country’s political and economic crisis.
