A man was seriously wounded Sunday when he was stabbed near the Hadar Mall in southern Jerusalem’s Pierre Koenig Street, in what police said was a criminal incident, and not a terror attack.
An off-duty police officer at the scene opened fire and shot the assailant, ending the stabbing attack, according to witnesses. The assailant was in moderate condition, according to initial reports.
Both assailant and victim were rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
Police later said the assailant was a known criminal.
