Paraglider crashes into Ashdod beach

Man taken to hospital in moderate to serious condition

A paraglider crashed onto an Ashdod beach late Friday morning.

Initial reports listed the condition of the man, 40, as moderate to serious. He was taken to Sheba Hospital at Tel Hashomer for treatment.

The reason for the crash is not yet clear, but initial reports indicate the paraglider’s hand was caught in the engine of the flying device. It is not clear if that was the reason for the crash.

Paragliding, which involves a parachute attached to a small engine, is a popular recreation activity in Israel, especially along the coast.
