What is RAD 140?
RAD 140 was first discovered by Miller et al. in 2011 [1]. It was tested in animal studies from 2013, and the first human study was initiated in October 2017, where the effects of RAD 140 on postmenopausal women with breast cancer were studied [2].
RAD 140 was developed by Radius Health and then licensed to Ellipses Pharmaceuticals in 2020. It has been sold for several years now and has a large number of followers. This is because it is believed to be a safer and more effective alternative to anabolic steroids.
RAD 140 is a selective androgen receptor (SARM). SARMS work in a similar way to anabolic steroids by binding to androgen receptors and simulating male sex hormones. Where SARMS differ from anabolic steroids is that they target specific cells, while anabolic steroids target many cells in the body.

RAD 140 Side Effects
As with the benefits of RAD 140, it is a little hard to properly study the side effects when there are so few human studies, particularly long-term studies. That does not mean that we can’t identify some common side effects that are either mentioned by frequent users, or found in the literature.
One of the most commonly reported side effects of SARMS is liver toxicity, with a 2020 medical case study discussing a 52-year-old man who took RAD 140 and suffered from Jaundice [6]. However, it should also be noted that the man was a recreational drug user and regularly drank beer and whiskey.
We find that people who have taken RAD 140 commonly report elevated liver enzyme counts, but they also state that after the cycle had finished, their liver enzyme number returned to normal. Of course, with repeated cycles, this may become more of an issue.
The best practice would be to avoid RAD 140 if you have had liver-related health issues in the past.
Other side effects that have been mentioned include insomnia, water retention, and raised blood pressure. That does not mean that these are the only side effects that can occur, nor does it mean that they are all caused by RAD 140. That’s the issue with such an under-researched supplement.
RAD 140 Dosage
RAD 140 capsules are 10 mg, and while there is no evidence-based dosage advice, the most common dosage for men is between 10 mg and 20 mg per day. Smaller men (and most women) should probably take lower dosages, while large men (bodybuilders, for example) often take higher dosages than 20 mg per day.
RAD 140 Cycle
Again, there is no evidence-based answer to this, just anecdotal evidence from the many bodybuilders who use RAD 140. We see typical cycles lasting six to eight weeks. Though many people state that six weeks is the golden period and that results tend to dry up between six and eight weeks.
Others follow longer cycles but tend to start with smaller dosages and build their way up to 10-20 mg per day. This ends up with the same 6-8 week cycle, just with a few weeks of slowly building tolerance and getting used to RAD 140.
RAD 140 PCT
PCT stands for Post-Cycle Therapy. PCT is commonly performed after an anabolic steroid cycle as the body has stopped producing testosterone levels, and it can take a while to naturally return to regular testosterone production.
PCT involves drugs such as Clomid, which lowers estrogen levels and increases luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This helps to stimulate increased testosterone production in the body, returning your testosterone production level to normal and helping you to avoid the symptoms of low testosterone.
Whether you need PCT after taking RAD 140 is debatable at the moment. Many people claim that this is only the case if you use poor-quality sources of RAD 140. However, it does make sense to get your blood tested after a cycle. If your testosterone production has been impaired, then Clomid or similar PCT options may be beneficial.
RAD 140 Results: What to Expect
It is common for users to gain 10-15lbs of lean muscle on RAD 140. However, it really is all about the effort that you put in. Thus, if someone is training hard and disciplined with their diet, they will experience maximum results. In contrast to someone who misses workouts, dosages and is sloppy with their diet.
Typical muscle increases for someone on RAD 140 will be around 1kg of muscle per week. The longer they have been on RAD 140, the less they will gain from each consequent cycle.
This amount of weight gain doesn’t sound like much until you realise that it is solid muscle tissue and makes a dramatic impact when looking in the mirror.
Should You Take RAD 140 in the Morning or at Night?
The truth is that it doesn’t really matter from a results point of view. Whether you prefer the morning or the night is going to differ from person to person. Some people find that taking it late at night can cause them some insomnia, but many people don’t notice this at all.
Some people find that taking it early in the morning can cause them to feel nauseated, but many people don’t notice this at all. You get the idea. There is no right answer here. Try one way. If you don’t like it, try the other.

Ostarine vs RAD 140

LGD-4033 vs RAD 140
Ligandrol (LGD-4033) appears to be better for building muscle, while RAD 140 is better for fat loss and for general energy levels. The side effects for both appear to be similar. Ligandrol is a lot cheaper than RAD 140, which may be something to consider.

Testol 140 is a herbal supplement that attempts to live off the reputation of RAD 140. It describes itself as a legal and natural alternative to Testolone. But it won’t really provide you with any of the benefits of RAD 140.
