Three young Bedouin men were killed in a car crash in southern Israel Tuesday night, during Yom Kippur.

The three, in their twenties and thirties, died in a head-on collision between two vehicles near Dimona, on Route 25. Two other young men were moderately injured.

A relative of two of the victims told Ynet news the families were devastated. “We don’t yet know how the accident happened,” he said, but noted that roads in the area were in deteriorated condition and that “Route 25 has had many serious accidents.”

“Those responsible in the government must fix our roads in the Negev, and not forsake us,” he said. “It is unacceptable that every two weeks we have fatal accidents on roads in our area. We are human beings and we have the right to drive on safe roads.”
