Three wounded in Iranian missile strike on highway outside Jerusalem
Man, 46, in moderate condition after stopping vehicle on edge of crater caused by blast, as Iran continues to launch missiles across the region in response to US-Israeli bombing

Three people were wounded by the impact of an Iranian ballistic missile on a highway on the outskirts of Jerusalem Sunday evening, medics said, on the second day of the Islamic Republic’s war with the US and Israel.
The impact left a large crater in the road, hollowed out a traffic sign and caused heavy damage to several cars.
The wounded included a 46-year-old man who sustained moderate shrapnel injuries and two people who were lightly hurt by the impact, while two other people were treated for acute anxiety, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.
All five were taken to hospitals in the area, according to MDA.
Haaretz reported that the three wounded people were in their cars at the time of the impact.
The moderately wounded man sustained a head injury when he stopped short at the edge of the crater while driving, the report said.

The highway, strewn with debris from the impact, was blocked to traffic in both directions as bulldozers collected rubble, while bystanders, mostly young Haredi men, gathered on a ledge overlooking the road.
Jerusalem District police commander Avshalom Peled toured the site as bomb disposal experts conducted searches for additional munitions in and around the crater. Peled did not take questions from reporters.
Tehran has fired hundreds of missiles at Israel and Arab allies of the US after the US and Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran on Saturday morning in a bid to both keep it from attaining nuclear arms and effect a regime change in the Islamic Republic.

The opening salvo of the US-Israeli campaign decimated Iran’s leadership, killing longtime Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
Some of Iran’s retaliatory strikes have been deadly, including a direct hit Sunday on a residential area of Beit Shemesh, near Jerusalem, that killed nine people and wounded over 40.
The Health Ministry said Sunday that 677 people have been evacuated to hospitals since the start of the war, 166 of whom are in intensive care, including six in serious condition.
