Hermon opens slopes after first winter snows
Israel’s only ski site accessible to visitors free of charge, but downhill runs not yet operational

Israel’s only ski resort, on Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, opened for the first time this season on Saturday after heavy snow fell in the past few days.
The resort will be open and free of charge to visitors, but the ski runs are not yet operating, the site said.
The region got its first snow as the country was hit by a large storm in recent days that came after the driest November ever on record in Israel.
Site managers said just two centimeters had fallen on the lower slopes and 40 centimeters on the upper reaches of the mountain.
The site and facilities will be open depending on the weather conditions. It snowed gently Saturday morning.
