Nuclear Iran ‘won’t destroy Israel, but will inspire radicals,’ says expert

A nuclear Iran would not pose an existential threat to Israel, but could embolden proxies that do threaten the Jewish state, foreign policy expert Uzi Rabi said Thursday.

Rabi, a Middle East expert at the Moshe Dayan Center, Told Russia Today on Thursday that the problem with a nuclear Iran is not that it would destroy Israel, but rather the threat its proxies, like Hezbollah and Hamas, would pose to Israeli security.

Tehran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons, Rabi said, “would be a kind of source of inspiration for many radical groups in the region to start acting in a different manner, now that they [would] have nuclear backup.”

Regarding Syria, Arad said that toppling President Bashar Assad would create a power vacuum and would turn Syria into a failed state.
