The three widows of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and their children will be deported from Pakistan to Yemen within 24 hours, a leading Saudi daily reported Thursday.
Islamabad police chief Elias Khan told Al-Watan that the widows have been transferred to a safe-house in the embassy district of the capital in preparation for their imminent ouster. At least one of the women, Amal Saadah, holds Yemeni citizenship.
The three widows have been held in detention since the killing of bin Laden last May by American commandos in the city of Abbottabad, and were charged with illegally entering and residing in Pakistan. Under Pakistani law, the women faced up to five years in prison, the Associated Press reported.
Quoting Pakistani military sources, Al-Watan reported that a Pakistani inquiry committee had finished questioning the widows about Operation Geronimo, in which bin Laden was apprehended and killed.
