For 1 night, Jaffa bureaucracy gives way to performances and art
Festival will see municipal building play host to a free celebration of theater, dance, music and more

A festival offering an evening of original music, art and dance organized by Jaffa’s creative types, known as Jaffa 110, is set to turn a municipal building into a performance space for one evening in July.
More than 100 artists will perform and display works of art on July 28 throughout the rooms and hallways of the Mishlama, a city structure that serves Tel Aviv and Jaffa residents, where, among other things, they can come to pay their parking tickets.
“We want to lower the dividing line between Tel Aviv and Jaffa,” said Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai. “Jaffa is an inseparable part of Tel Aviv.”
Entry to the entire one-night festival was sponsored by the City of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
The city of Tel Aviv is formally known as Tel Aviv-Yafo (the Hebrew pronunciation of Jaffa), but the two areas often operate as separate entities, with different vibes, cultures and residential groups.
Jaffa 110 grew out of a communal group of artists whose works echo the sensibility of Jaffa, with works by performance and spoken word artists, temporary galleries showing interactive works, sculpture, floor drawing activities, street theater and other cultural works.
The event is free, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, July 28, at the Mishlama, 110 Jerusalem Boulevard, Jaffa.
