Three Palestinians said hurt by IDF fire in Gaza Strip

Three Palestinians were injured in an Israeli tank strike on the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, according to Palestinian media.

The three were said to be injured by shrapnel in the incident, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics told the Paltoday.ps website.

Earlier, two Palestinians breached the buffer zone, an area surrounding the border with Israel where Gazans are not meant to enter, and approached the security fence, an IDF spokeswoman said.

“Forces on site called the suspects to halt and fired warning shots in the air,” she said.

When the pair did not stop, the IDF responded by shooting live rounds and tank shells at the suspects, the IDF official said.

“The suspects then retreated from the buffer zone,” she added.

The Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported that the injured were taken to the European Hospital for treatment for moderate injuries.

The identities of the injured were not immediately reported.

Initially, the IDF had said that there was no artillery or tank fire in the vicinity of the incident in question.
