9 soldiers injured in mass brawl at IDF base
Army opens investigation into incident at military complex in southern Israel that saw troops from Maintenance Corps, Military Police square off

Nine soldiers were injured Friday in a mass brawl between troops at a base in southern Israel.
Of the nine who were injured, seven were taken to receive medical treatment at Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center, according to Hebrew media reports.
Israel Radio said that the brawl broke out outside the dining hall after lunch and that several of the soldiers had been beaten with rifle butts.
The fight, which took place at the Israel Defense Forces’s “City of Training Bases” in the Negev Desert, saw soldiers from the army’s Technology and Maintenance Corps square off with troops from the Military Police.
The IDF said the commanders of the units would open inquiries into the incidents and take action those involved. Military Police also opened an investigation into the brawl.

In December, two soldiers were charged at a military court aggravated assault and causing actual bodily harm for attacking another member of their unit, including breaking breaking his nose and causing other injuries.
