An Arab Israeli man was shot to death early Friday in the northern city of Nahariya.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said paramedics pronounced the man dead after finding him with no signs of life.

The shooting victim was identified as Mahmoud Hasarma, 38, from the northern town of Bi’na.

Police said they opened an investigation into the shooting and officers were gathering evidence from the scene

Officers were also searching for suspects.

Nahariya residents reported hearing bursts of gunfire from an automatic weapon, according to the Ynet news site, which said the shooting was suspected of being part of a feud between the Hasarmas and another family in Bi’na.

Last month, 44-year-old Salim Abd al-Karim Hasarma was gunned down in Bi’na. His brother, Ibrahim Hasarma, was killed by gunfire in December 2019.

Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 106 Arabs killed in suspected homicides, according to the Abraham Initiatives nonprofit. Some 90 were citizens of Israel, and another 16 were Palestinians, either from East Jerusalem or with Israeli residency.

This year is on track to be the bloodiest year for the Arab community since a crime wave began there several years ago.
