Israeli model Bar Refaeli and her husband Adi Ezra welcomed their second child over the weekend, naming her Elle. But not all in Israel were happy with the name.
“Our hearts are full of love right now, as I am excited to announce I am a mom of two,” said the model in a statement. “We welcomed Liv’s little sister, Elle, into the world on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8:50 p.m, weighing 3 kilos. We are all happy, healthy and eager to start this new chapter in our lives.”
Social media was full of critics, though.
“The most important in choosing a name is to take the family name into account. How did they put a name like “Elle” with the most Israeli and biblical name like ‘Ezra’? From a sweet and small girl comes a name like Ella Ezra, that sounds like Eli Ezra,” wrote one person on a thread about the new baby.
“What are these horrible names, Liv and Elle? Poor girls,” wrote another. “If you call the two girls together, it comes out Liv Elle, which sounds like ‘Live-hell’, she clearly didn’t think about it too much,” wrote someone else.
Not everyone was critical of the new baby’s name. Other commentators took the critics to task for their harsh words, wishing the new baby and her parents good health and happiness.
It’s been a busy period for Refaeli and her husband.
Their older daughter, Liv, was born in August 2016, which makes for two sets of diapers in the young family.
