Body of woman, 24, found near University of Haifa

The body of a 24-year-old woman was found along a stream near Haifa’s university on Saturday night, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.

Her body was found by a man who had been walking near the Nahal Kelach stream in the city’s Mount Carmel area, near the University of Haifa campus, according to the rescue service.

MDA said in a statement that the body of a woman who had been hiking at a local scenic area was reported found at around 10 p.m. Medics who arrived on the scene declared her dead.

The identity of the woman was not immediately released for publication.

The circumstances of her death were not immediately clear. Police opened an investigation into the incident. The ambulance service did not report any signs of a struggle on the woman’s body.

According to a report carried by the Ynet news website, the body was found in difficult terrain and extraction required assistance from a special volunteer rescue service that operates in the Galilee region.
