Broken train causes massive disruptions to travelers around country

A train broke down at a Tel Aviv train station on Wednesday, causing massive disruptions to travelers across the country.

Although Israel Railways said that the problem at Tel Aviv’s Shalom station had been dealt with and regular service would soon be resumed, the stoppage led to delays, with people waiting several hours for trains.

One passenger who waited over two hours for a train from Haifa told the Walla news site that, “They are always talking about the train crisis. When will they speak about the crisis of faith of the trapped passengers? Every breakdown affects the entire country.”

He said he was considering going back to regularly taking the bus, since he would be late for work due to the train delay.

Another passenger told the website that once the trains started running again they were so full that it was impossible for any passengers at his station to board.

Many people took to social media to complain that they were stuck on the tracks, or still waiting for trains.
