CeeLo Green, the Grammy-Award winning musician popularly known as the voice behind the Gnarls Barkley classic single “Crazy,” will be performing in Jerusalem’s Independence Park August 19.
Green is just one of a slew of stars taking the stage in Israel this summer, but unlike the majority, who light it up in the confines of Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park or Ramat Gan stadium, the 40-year-old rapper singer-songwriter will be bringing his talents to Israel’s capital city, the Ynet news site reported.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Green got his start with Goodie Mob, a hip hop group affiliated with Outkast. But his professional career really took off in 2004 when he and DJ Danger Mouse formed Gnarls Barkley. The duo rocketed to stardom with the single “Crazy,” which Rolling Stone listed in as one of the 100 greatest songs of all time.
Green also released single hit “Fuck You!” to YouTube in 2010 (better known on the radio as “Forget You”). It was an internet sensation, scoring two million hits in less than a week.
Green is a coach on the popular TV show “The Voice.”

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
