Egyptians incensed by Danes' nude shoot atop Great Pyramid

Photographer Andreas Hvid says he did not mean to anger locals, but had dreamed of the act for many years

Egypt said over the weekend it was investigating two Danes who filmed and photographed themselves nude atop the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Andreas Hvid posted video and images of the pair making the climb, after which they strip and appear to have intercourse at the site, though the image was apparently staged.

Climbing to the top of the pyramid is forbidden and Egyptian authorities said they were probing the pair’s actions.

“For many years I had dreamed of climbing the great pyramid,” Hvid told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, as translated by CNN. “The idea of making a ‘nude shoot’ up there had also existed for some time.”

He added: “I’m sad that so many people have become so angry. But I have also received a positive response from a lot of Egyptians, something I think is worth remembering.”
