Home Front Defense Ministry chief Gabi Ophir tendered his resignation Sunday, citing the ministry’s lack of clear policy.
Ophir, formerly the head of the IDF’s Home Front Command, was appointed director general last year by former minister of home front defense Avi Dichter.
In his resignation letter, sent to Home Front Defense Minister Gilad Erdan, Ophir said he could no longer direct a ministry that lacked a clear policy, Israel Radio reported.
Ophir’s office was unavailable for comment as of Sunday evening.
The Home Front Defense Ministry is tasked with providing the state with emergency response in case of natural or national disasters.
