An Israeli military drone crashed in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening, the Israel Defense Forces said.

According to the IDF, the reason for the crash was not known, and was still being investigated.

The IDF said there was no risk of intelligence being taken from the drone.

The model of the UAV was not immediately detailed by the army, but small, off-the-shelf drones used by the IDF for simple reconnaissance missions crash with relative frequency.

There was no immediate comment by terror groups, or affiliated media in the Gaza Strip, regarding the incident.

In the past, Palestinians have claimed to have shot down IDF drones over the coastal enclave.
