Brig.-Gen. Moti Almoz was named as the IDF’s new spokesman on Monday, as Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz announced a number of high-ranking job changes that received the approval of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

Almoz, 45, headed the army’s Civil Administration and was in charge of day-to-day encounters between soldiers and Palestinians in the Israeli-controlled areas of the West Bank.

He will replace Yoav Mordechai, who will be promoted to the rank of major general and head the unit of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

Gantz said Brig.-Gen. David Menachem, who was in charge of the central command office, will replace Almoz.

Also, Col. Avner Tzuk will leave his job as commander of the cyber department and become head of the Education Corps.
