IDF: Palestinian man throws explosive at forces in northern West Bank, is shot dead
Palestinian Authority health ministry identifies man as 19-year-old Hassan Ahmed Jamil Moussa, says he was killed at Askar refugee camp in Nablus

A Palestinian who allegedly hurled an explosive device at Israeli soldiers during a raid in the Nablus area of the northern West Bank was shot dead early Sunday morning, the military said.
The IDF said the reservists of the Samaria Regional Brigade were not hurt by the bomb.
The Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority health ministry said the man shot by the IDF was 19-year-old Hassan Ahmed Jamil Moussa and that he was killed at the Askar refugee camp at the eastern end of Nablus, in the northern West Bank.
Majed Abu Kishk, the head of the Askar services committee, said the man was shot at around midnight during a raid on the camp.
Abu Kishk said that when he was handed over to the Palestinian ambulance services, “he was already dead.”
Violence in the West Bank has soared since the Hamas attack on Israel triggered the Gaza war in October 2023.
At least 1,006 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers since the war started, according to the PA health ministry. The IDF says the vast majority of them were gunmen killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or terrorists carrying out attacks.
During the same period, 62 others, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in clashes during raids in Palestinian cities in the West Bank.
The same period has also seen a major surge in attacks by settler extremists on Palestinians across the West Bank.
