Iranians added to UN sanctions blacklist for arms smuggling
UN Security Council says the Quds Force-linked company and individuals helped facilitate the transfer and shipment of weapons

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Two Iranians and an Iranian company linked to the country’s hardline Quds Force have been added to the UN Security Council sanctions blacklist for their involvement in arms smuggling.
The council’s sanctions committee says Ali Akbar Tabatabaei and Azim Aghajani helped plan a weapons shipment from Iran that was intercepted by Nigeria in 2010. It included rockets, mortar shells, grenades and ammunition.
It said Behineh Trading Co. played a key role in the illicit transfer of arms and acted on behalf of Iran’s hardline Quds Force as the shipper.
