Israeli forces came under fire during an overnight raid near the West Bank city of Jenin, police said Wednesday.
Border Police officers detained a wanted Palestinian in the area, and clashes erupted at the scene, police said in a statement.
Police said dozens of rioters hurled improvised explosives and opened fire at forces.
“A vehicle with an armed terrorist in it arrived near the Border Police forces and aimed his firearm at them. Border Police troops engaged and fired at the terrorist,” the statement read.
Palestinian media reports said the Israeli fire injured one person whose condition was not immediately clear.
Police said the suspect they arrested was involved in terror activity, without elaborating on the suspicions against him.
No police casualties were reported.

Later on Wednesday in a separate, rare daylight operation, undercover Border Police officers arrested a terror suspect in central Jenin.
Police said there was a confrontation during the arrest that took place at “one of the main squares in the heart of Jenin,” with shots fired.
The detainee was lightly hurt by gunfire, and one officer was hit by shrapnel, police said.
Both were taken for medical treatment, after which the suspect was to be taken for further questioning by the Shin Bet security service.
Palestinian media identified the man as Mumin Nashrati, a resident of Jenin. Police did not elaborate on the suspicions against him.

The incidents come after two Palestinians were killed early Tuesday in clashes during similar raids in the West Bank.
Nine Palestinians have been killed in violent confrontations with Israeli troops in recent weeks. Some died in gun battles with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, and others died in attempted stabbing attacks in Jerusalem’s Old City.
In a murkier incident earlier this month, Israeli soldiers shot and killed 19-year-old Palestinian student Ammar Abu Afifa near Hebron. The army later declined to accuse him of any violent activity, saying that soldiers saw him approaching a lookout post, chased after him and shot him.
Officials have warned of a possible flare-up of violence during Ramadan next month, and Shin Bet head Ronen Bar reportedly held talks with his FBI counterpart in Washington this week on the matter. Public Security Minister Omer Barlev, who oversees the police, warned in response to the Jerusalem stabbing attacks that “terrorists and extremists will try to set the area on fire” in the coming weeks.
