Army asks Israelis to avoid ‘flying for sport’ over weekend

In light of the hundreds of Hamas rockets flying through Israel’s southern airspace each day, the army is asking Israelis to avoid “flying for sport” anywhere south of Tel Aviv.

That includes recreational flying of private planes and hang gliding.

Many small planes and gliders take to Israel’s skies each weekend in what has become a growing, if still niche, pastime.
