Death toll rises to 49 in New Zealand mosque attacks
The death toll in deadly attacks on two New Zealand mosques rises to 49.
A further 20 people are seriously injured.
“This can only be described as a terrorist attack,” New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says.
“While we do not have anything to believe at this stage that there were any other suspects, we are not assuming that at this stage.”
Witnesses speak of victims being shot at close range, with women and children among those killed.
