The Defense Ministry names Colonel (ret.) Moshe Patel as the new head of Israel’s missile defense program.
Patel replaces Yair Ramati, who was fired from his post in December amid allegations that he didn’t properly maintain state secrets.
A graduate of the Israel’s Technion Institute of Technology, Patel worked in missile defense for more than a decade, including a stint as deputy director of the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) in the IDF’s Directorate of Research and Development.
The Defense Ministry said in December that Ramati, who was responsible for developing the Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow missile defense systems, had committed “severe information security violations.”
Media reports at the time suggested he was found to have classified documents on his personal computer.
