IDF commandos did not operate inside Iran during the 12-day war, an unnamed senior defense official tells the Kan public broadcaster.
The report comes after last night, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said ground commando forces “operated covertly deep in enemy territory and carried out operations that granted us operational freedom of action.”
Zamir did not specify whether he was talking about Iran, nor whether he was referring to Mossad agents who, at the start of the operation, carried out actions in Iran to neutralize Iranian air defenses and ballistic missiles.
The Kan report suggests that the commandos may have actually operated in a nearby enemy state.
The IDF has declined to clarify.
