Diamond tycoon Beny Steinmetz arrested
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleDiamond tycoon Beny Steinmetz is the well-known businessman detained for questioning earlier today on suspicion of money laundering and bribing foreign public officials, following an undercover investigation in several countries.
His name was under gag order, but can now be revealed after a court sent him to house arrest for two weeks, Ynet says.
He is accused of paying millions of dollars in bribes along with his associates to government workers in the Republic of Guinea in exchange for the advancement of his business interests in the country, according to an Israel Police spokesperson.
