Former hostage Alon Ohel performs aboard USS Nimitz for US Independence Day
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleFreed Hamas hostage Alon Ohel performs aboard the USS Nimitz as part of US Independence Day celebrations, the Kan public broadcaster reports.
Ohel, a young Israeli-German pianist, can be seen playing the piano alongside American singer-songwriter John Ondrasik, known by his stage name Five for Fighting, in footage circulating online. The pair perform Ondrasik’s post-9/11 hit “Superman.”
Ondrasik revamped the song in April 2025 in Ohel’s honor, while he was still in Hamas captivity.
