German FM: Palestinian state should come as a result of negotiations

Germany reaffirms its position that it will not recognize a Palestinian state until Israelis and Palestinians negotiate a two-state solution.
As he leaves for the UN General Assembly in New York, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul says that “a negotiated two-state solution is the path that can allow Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace, security and dignity.”
“For Germany, recognition of a Palestinian state comes more at the end of the process. But this process must begin now,” he says.
At the UN this week, France is expected to become the latest country to recognize a Palestinian state, following Australia, Britain, Canada, and Portugal, which did so on Sunday.
