The Hamas terror group releases a statement confirming that that it has not received any new proposals for a ceasefire in Gaza, after elements of US President Donald Trump’s 21-point plan to end the war and free hostages were presented to mediators and emerged in media reports.

The Hamas statement says negotiations have been suspended since September 9, when Israel carried out a strike in Qatar.

The group adds that it is ready to examine any proposal conveyed to it through mediators “positively and responsibly, in a way that safeguards the rights of the Palestinian people.”

The plan was shared by the US with a handful of Arab and Muslim countries last week on the United Nations General Assembly sidelines. On Friday Trump said of talks surrounding the plan that “all of the countries within the region are involved, Hamas is very much aware of these discussions, and Israel has been informed at all levels, including Bibi Netanyahu,” referring to the premier by his nickname.

The plan was obtained by The Times of Israel and authenticated by two sources familiar with the matter on Saturday.
