The IDF announces the establishment of a new technological unit focused on developing artificial intelligence and information-processing capabilities for troops on the battlefield.

According to the military, the new unit, named “Alumot,” will operate under the IDF’s C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate as a technological-operational hub tasked with rapidly developing and delivering AI and data-processing platforms to frontline forces.

The unit is made up of combat soldiers, technology personnel, information researchers and AI experts, and will work in coordination with different branches across the military to tailor technological solutions for operational needs.

“The combination of the fighter on the ground and the advanced technological capabilities available to the IDF enabled many of the achievements of the war,” the head of the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate Maj. Gen. Aviad Dagan said during the unit’s inauguration ceremony yesterday.

“The battlefield is evolving before our eyes and requires us to constantly learn and innovate,” he said, adding that the unit will work to “develop and make accessible the information and artificial intelligence capabilities we possess to frontline fighters.”
