Initial assessments indicate that Hamas’s newly appointed military chief Mohammed Odeh was successfully killed in an IDF strike in Gaza City this evening, according to Hebrew media reports.

An Israeli source confirms to the Kan public broadcaster that Odeh was killed in the strike.

Hamas has not yet commented on the targeting of Odeh, and there is no immediate official Israeli confirmation of the Hebrew media reports.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz earlier announced that Israel had carried out a strike targeting Hamas’s new military chief, following the killing earlier this month of his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad.
