The Foreign Ministry has reached out to Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria for firefighting aid, says a joint announcement by the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Ministry and the Foreign Ministry.

International teams are expected to begin operating tomorrow, says the statement, because of limitations of firefighting aircraft at night.

Israel’s Elad aerial firefighting squadron aircraft and Israel Police helicopters are currently fighting the flames, while the Israel Air Force is “preparing for immediate operational support,” according to the statement.
