An Israeli who was arrested and imprisoned in Jordan for the last three months is returned to Israel, where he is met by government hostage pointman Gal Hirsch, says the Prime Minister’s Office.
Mahmoud Salameh was released after talks between Shin Bet, the Foreign Ministry, Israel Police and their Jordanian counterparts, according to the PMO. The statement does not say why he was arrested, but says the case is under review.
Salameh will undergo medical examinations, will be questioned and will meet with his family.
According to the PMO, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Hirsch and all involved in bringing Salameh back, and stresses the importance of adhering to National Security Council travel advisories.
