Jordan breaks up IS cell plotting ‘massive terrorist scheme’

Jordan has thwarted a “massive terrorist scheme” planned by an Islamic State cell, the country’s General Intelligence Department announces.

According to the kingdom’s official Petra news agency, 17 people have been arrested for their suspected involvement in the “heinous” plot.

It says the plotters aimed to carry out simultaneous attacks in order to “tamper with national security and ignite havoc.”
