MDA asks for Americans’ help with emergency needs

Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical response organization, publishes a list of emergency needs toward which Americans can contribute as rockets continue to rain over Israel, causing injuries and material damage.

The organization, which does not receive government funding, says it has mobilized its 13,000 volunteers and 1,000 ambulances to help save lives in the current escalation, but that the response has strained its limited resources, which must now be divided between the rocket landing sites and everyday emergencies.

The organization says that in recent days, it has treated 104 Israeli civilians hurt in rocket fire and preventing further casualties.

“MDA and Israel’s Home Front Command spend a lot of time and resources educating the public about safety and the low numbers of Israeli casualties are the fruits of our labor,” says MDA Director of International Affairs Yonatan Yagodovsky. “But MDA is still in need of significant assistance and support because don’t know how long this operation will last.”

MDA lists its most critical needs as emergency medical supplies such as IV needles, trauma cervical collars, ambulance resuscitators for adults and children, oxygen cylinders, spare parts for ambulances, and syringes and needles (at a cost of between $100 and $10,000), blood transfusion supplies such as blood bags and viral testing kits (at a cost of between $3,600 to $10,000), and communications systems such as beepers (at a cost of between $1,000 to $2,000).
