Israel’s minimum wage is set to rise to NIS 4,825 ($1,253) per month on July 1.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who also serves as economy minister, signs the new pay rise into law today.
The move follows a cabinet decision earlier this year that raises the minimum wage to NIS 5,000 ($1,297) by January 1, 2017, but does so in four installments. Monday’s decision marks the third installment.
Netanyahu calls the move “appropriate, just and important,” and says it will “help, even if only a little, the hundreds of thousands of workers in Israel whose salaries are set by the minimum wage.”
