Netanyahu in court to testify as his corruption trial passes 6-year mark

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again takes the stand in his criminal trial on corruption charges, six years after the trial began on May 24, 2020.

Netanyahu’s testimony, which began on December 10, 2024, and which has been beset by numerous delays, is set to conclude in the next two weeks, with prosecutor Yonatan Tadmor telling the judges that the prime minister’s testimony could be completed with four to five full days of testimony. The premier frequently requests that hearings be cancelled or cut short.

Netanyahu is being cross examined today on Case 2000, in which he is charged with fraud and breach of trust over allegations he planned an arrangement with Yediot Aharonot publisher Arnon (Noni) Mozes where he would receive more favorable media coverage from the publication and Netanyahu would in return advance legislation to weaken Yediot’s rival, Israel Hayom.
